Year 2 - The Red Reading Challenge - 13th March 2018

This week I am introducing the children to The Red Reading Challenge.  The idea of this is to get them to read longer texts and to commit to reading a chapter book from beginning to end.  This challenge doesn't mean that the children must do this all by themselves though!  Over this week each of the children who wishes to take part will be able to choose their first book from the red section of the library.  By reading this book in class, at home, with friends and family we hope to challenge, engage and teach the children about the resilience they need to read longer texts and also the amazing adventures you can go on when reading stories!  Children will be encouraged to choose texts that are most suitable for them as most of them just go for the thickest one to start with.  Children will also continue to bring home books of their usual level (Blue or Green) and one or two group reading books.
Please help by keeping a record of your child's reading in their reading diary.  Enjoy your books!
