Year 2 - Dinotastic Dinosaur Week - 30th March 2018

What a wonderful way to end this term!  It all started with Dippy leaving us a present outside school.  The children wrote poems and Witness Statements in response to Dippy's visit and the police were on hand to take down evidence regarding the roaming dinosaur.  On Tuesday we had a visit from Lucy Volpin, Lucy is an author and illustrator.  She has written two books so far and year 2 were lucky enough to have a workshop with her which we thoroughly enjoyed, in fact we didn't want to stop drawing!  On Wednesday it was Dino-Dress Down day, a fun day to show our inner dino.  We had paleontologists, dinosaurs, explorers and even a Saber-Tooth tiger!  We continued to find out more about dinosaurs, time periods, reading dino stories and poems and sketching and colouring.  Of course Thursday was Dippy day and the whole school went to see the famous Dinosaur - what a fabulous day!  We dug for fossils, looked closely at Dippy and toured the Jurassic Gallery to find out about Megalosaurs and Plesiosaurs.  Which do you think was the most fearsome?   We even sang to Dippy before we left.  A fabulously inspiring week, well done everyone for participating with such enthusiasm!  For home-learning it would be lovely to see some reports / recounts about the day!  Here are some pictures:
