✨ Autumn 2 – Week 1 Complete! 🍂

What a fantastic first week back! We have officially completed Week 1 of Autumn 2, and what a fun-packed week it has been! We have filled our days with lots of learning, exciting activities and some wonderful opportunities for the children to get involved in.

We were lucky enough to welcome Dorchester Fire Service into school this week, who delivered a brilliant assembly all about staying safe around Bonfire Night. I've also loved hearing all the children's stories about where they went to watch the fireworks and what they got up to over half term. It has been so lovely listening to their excitement and hearing all about their adventures! 🎆

We've also kicked off something very exciting in our art lessons as we begin working on a special project in preparation for our Christmas Exhibition! This is something I've never been part of before, and I am beyond excited to see our vision come to life. I can't wait to see what the children create!

Today, we finished the week on a high with a fantastic Diwali dance workshop. The children absolutely loved it, throwing themselves into the dancing and getting fully involved. It was wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and energy! 💃

Of course, amongst all these exciting opportunities, we've continued to work incredibly hard in our usual lessons too. In Maths, we have been busy developing our addition and subtraction skills, whilst in English, we've waved goodbye to our previous book and are beginning a brand-new story... one that is yet to be discovered! 👀

In History, we've also started our new topic, The Great Fire of London. I think I can safely say the children's attention is already fully locked in! It's such a fascinating topic, and they have been incredibly interested in finding out how such a huge event unfolded. I'm looking forward to seeing where our learning takes us over the coming weeks!

A brilliant start to Autumn 2, Year 2! I'm so proud of how the children have returned after the half-term break, ready to learn, explore and get stuck into everything on offer.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Miss Joy and the super supportive year 2 team 💙
