The end of Year 2!

Wow hasn't that year gone quickly?!

On behalf of all of the Year 2 team I want to share how proud we are of all of the children. They have worked incredibly hard, showing resilience, curiosity, and kindness every single day.

Thank you so much for the incredible gifts and cards.

We hope you have a lovely Summer

Final week of our Sports fortnight and things to come...

Wow the heat is definitely slowing us down! On Wednesday the children spent the first hour of the day with the Year 4 sports leaders who taught them how to play some games.

Today we had Jen and Anthony from Castle Hill Heritage skills CIC who taught the children a set of 6 games dating back 1000 years! This was great fun, thank you to Jen and Anthony for this amazing opportunity.

There isn't any home learning or spellings this week. We are consolidating our learning in our last full week of term. I can't quite believe Year 2 is nearly over!!!

Have a lovely weekend

Year 2: Week 1 of Inclusive Sports fortnight

What a fantastic week of sport and creativity it’s been! The children have thrown themselves into every activity with energy, teamwork, and big smiles.

This week’s highlights

  • Inflatable curling: Great focus and friendly competition as the children learned aim, control, and tactical thinking.
  • Basketball: Fast breaks, dribbling drills, and plenty of passing practice—brilliant teamwork on show.
  • Golf: Calm concentration and careful putting—lots of proud “hole-in-ones” celebrated.
  • PH Active sports session: A fun, high-energy mix that got everyone moving and trying new skills.
  • Kickboxing: Superb discipline and coordination while learning safe techniques and combinations.
  • Sports Morning: A joyful whole-school celebration of effort and sportsmanship—thank you for cheering them on!

Creativity corner

  • Roundhouse art: Children have begun painting their own designs on the roundhouse, adding colour and character to our outdoor space. If your child hasn’t painted yet, please send them in with an old top on Thursday so we can finish their artwork without worrying about splashes.

Key notices for this week

  • Tuesday pm: Transfer afternoon. Children will spend time with their new teams.
  • Wednesday pm: KS1 sports training led by our brilliant Y4 sports leaders.
  • Thursday: No more Rocket Club (finished for the year). PM—Y2’s last swim.
  • Friday: Roundhouse activities in the morning. From 2:30pm we’ll be performing our dance on the field—everyone is welcome to come and watch.

Uniform

  • Normal school uniform, please, unless Mr Spracklen advises that children may wear PE kits.

It's another hot week!!

Here are a range of pictures from the week:

As always, if you have any questions, please ask. Thank you for your ongoing support—your encouragement makes these experiences even more special for the children.
