Y2- Maths Learning - Week beginning 26th September

This week we have been continuing to consolidate our learning about place value, so if you still have those place value cards it is worth continuing to make and compare two digit numbers.  How about taking it in turns to pick a tens and a ones card and seeing who has the highest?  We have also begun to look at adding two digit numbers where the ones add up to more than 10.  We have done this in a very practical way.  Use straws bunched in 10s and 1s to represent the 10s and 1s in order to add them.  Or draw pictures of 10s and 1s to show the sum that you are calculating.
Write the sum with one number under the other, but make sure you line up the tens and the ones first!
