The Big Write 1 – Year 2 – October 18^th 2016

This week the children will be taking part in the first Big Write of the year.  We have been working on developing story writing and planning over the last week.  The children have enjoyed a BBC live lesson which taught them about writing the beginning, middle and end of a story and how we can add description of places and characters to bring our stories to life.  Since then the children have started to plan their own story using characters from Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book.  They have either started writing a story or filled in a planning sheet.  To prepare them for their Big Write next Tuesday I would like them to discuss their stories with you at home over the weekend.  By doing this you will help your child feel more confident about their writing, give them new ideas and encourage them to try their best.  Please return the planning sheet to school next Monday or Tuesday so that they can be used when writing the actual story.
