Our India day with Mr Farrington

Year 2 had a fun filled day yesterday with Mr Farrington. We learnt all about Indian small holdings and how they water their crops. We then split in to four groups and each child went to the following stations:

- Trying dips such as mango chutney and lime pickle.
-Eating a variety of fruit that they eat in India such as watermelon and pomegranate
-Talking about rice, where is it grown and what do the rice fields looks like. We also tasted basmati, pilau, biryani and peshwari rice.
-Tasting the delicious vegetable curries that Mr Farrington made.

Some of our children then took part in the assembly where they told the story of a young Indian boy that was so kind and caring and gave many things away but all he wanted was to have a drum.

After all of the eating and sampling foods that many children haven't tasted before we then watched Mr Farrington smash open a coconut and then we got to taste it!

After lunch the children then went with Mr Farrington in the hall to take part in a traditional Indian dance.

If you would like to see this dance and taste some scrumptious Indian food please come to our Indian café on Friday from 2pm. The children will be dancing twice in the afternoon.
