A study of Roald Dahl begins!

Welcome back!

It is great to hear all of the fantastic adventures Year 2 have been on in the holidays. Thank you very much for all of the brilliant home learning on Roald Dahl. We have looked at these pieces today and they will all be on our home learning display very soon! Talking of displays...have you had a chance to look at our Mary Anning display in the classroom? All of the children's reports are now on the wall along with their fossils. Have you seen our super hero VCOP display? Not sure what VCOP stands for? Year 2 all know that we have Violet Vocabulary, Captain Connective, Incredible Opener and Doctor Punctuation up on our wall to help them with their writing.

This week we have delved back in to our learning and we have started off our Literacy with looking at 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. We are going to be looking at this text for the next couple of weeks. We will be looking at all of the interesting characters, interviewing, comparing and thinking about all the fantastic adjectives and WOW words we can use to describe the chocolate factory!

Next week parents are welcome to come in to our Guided Reading sessions in the classroom. All of these lessons start at roughly 11.45 and last until we break for lunch at 12.30. If you would like to know when you child will be reading with me then please see me in the mornings and I can let you know and I will note down when you are coming in. Reading is such an important skill for young children to learn, I hope that the lessons will show you how to support your children when reading at home.
