Inspiring India Day

We had a wonderful day on Tuesday celebrating the end of our India topic.  Many thanks to all of the parents that were involved in making the day go so smoothly and of course to Mrs Webb and the children for their excellent cooking skills and Mrs Brooker and team who painted many hands with beautiful Mehndi patterns!
Our action packed day began with a talk from firefighter John where the children learned about fire safety at home and also got to see the special "how to train your dragon family" fire engine, they even got the opportunity to use the hose!  Firefighter John also linked his talk to our India Day giving us a fun activity sheet showing how to be safe during Diwali celebrations.  Thank you John.
After break we began to prepare for our celebrations in the afternoon, Mrs Mistry-Dyer brought in some amazing artefacts and hands on activities that the children really enjoyed, Mehndi patterns were drawn on hands, Rangoli designs were chalked on paper, Dances were practiced and Sweets were made!
The cafe opened with a buzz at 3:20pm and was a huge success, so thank you to everyone who took time to come and join in, have a taste and enjoy their children's learning with them.  Please look out for our display in the entrance hall, near the hall for photos, menus for the cafe, recipes and descriptions of  the day.  More to be posted on blogger soon.
