A Very Merry Year Two Thank you

We would like to say a HUGE 'THANK YOU' for the lovely Christmas Hampers that we were so kindly given. 

We have had a fantastic Autumn Term in Year Two and look forward to the New Year with enthusiasm and the expectation of more exciting learning.

Year 2 Home Learning Friday 10th December


As a home learning activity, perhaps you would like to copy out a part of this well known Christmas Carol and draw a picture to accompany the song. 

This song is important for Christians at Christmas Time.

Or maybe you would prefer to choose a different Christmas Song? Perhaps you have a favourite of your own.

Year Two Visit Radipole Lake Tomorrow - Reminder

Dear Year Two Families, 

Just a quick reminder about our visit to the RSPB Nature Reserve at Radipole Lake tomorrow. Make sure you bring warm waterproof clothes and outdoor boots/wellies.

Year Two - Power Maths Activity - Home Learning


Following our 'problem-solving' in Mathematics this week, we would like to set the children this puzzle from the "End of Unit Check" in our Power Maths books. It's quite tricky, so you'll have to grapple with it.

(We did run through how to get to the answer at school.)

What you need:

Get 9 small pieces of card/paper.

Write the numbers 1 to 9 on a piece of card/paper. 

You now have cards with the numbers 1  2   3   4   5  6  7  8  9

Here's the challenge:        Can you make three unequal piles of cards that total the same amount?

Record like this:     pile 1: _____.  pile 2: ______ pile 3: ______

          There is more than one answer.....         How many ways can you find?

Year Two Film Treat


 The children in Year Two have collected up all their 'Great Work Butterflies' which entitles them to a treat.

They have chosen to have an hour on Friday afternoon watching a film while wearing their pajamas. Cuddly toys are also optional.  They should definitely still come to school in their school uniform - and change after lunch. As the weather has made a turn for the colder, please make sure pajamas are warm, with dressing gowns a sensible extra layer!

Home Learning Year Two - Mathematical Investigation

Make the Magic Potion:

Spiders 8 legs

Beetles  6 legs

Lizards 4 legs

Bats 2 legs

Potion must have a total of 20 legs. 

What different potions could you make?

Record your answers clearly. 


Here’s an example:

Beetle + Beetle + Lizard + Bat + Bat = 20

 6       +      6    +      4     +    2   +  2  = 20

Year Two - Home learning and next week's assembly


Dear Year Two,

Geography:        Miss Cowls has set the children a Geography task for their 'home learning' this week. The children have been given a World map to label and some questions to answer about Human Features (made by people) and Physical Features (made by physical geography).

Assembly Lines:    Well done for practising these at home. A bit more practice would be great!            (Lost your lines? - email me or ask for another copy next week.)

Reminder - Families can can to watch our Y2 Assembly at 9.20 next Friday 19th November. This coincides with 'Children in Need Day'.

Next week's 'Show and Tell' is 'Orange Table' - also on Friday.
