Year 2 are amazing!

I wanted to start this blog with a big WELL DONE to all the children in Year 2 for putting on a fantastic assembly. Thank you to all of the families that came, your children really were amazing and worked so hard! Thank you for the support at home with reading and learning lines. It was great to show you some of the learning we have been doing in Year 2.

This week has been very busy and we have taken part in some amazing learning and activities. World book day was a great success and all children looked great in their costumes. We were also lucky enough to take part in a calypso music lesson with an amazing visitor called Alex. Year 2 wrote their own song and performed it in assembly.

Some of your children may have come home and spoken about 'secret agent training'. This is what I am calling our SATS preparation lessons. As I don't want any children getting anxious, worried or stressed about these I have rebranded them. I have told the children they will be training to be secret agents. Which involves them completing different activities. The focus for these sessions are Maths, Writing and Reading. The children are so engaged and finding it fun as they want to become a secret agent. I have also explained how there will be some secret agent tests in a few months to see if they have successfully become a secret agent. After the SATS all children will be receiving a certificate to say that have completed their training and they are now secret agents. Just wanted to update you on what this was and would ask that you keep the real reason of this to yourselves. Children are so engaged and I don't want this engagement to stop.

Tomorrow we are dressing up in sports kits in aid of the Duchenne charity. Please send all children in wearing their sports kits.

See you all tomorrow,
Miss White, Mrs Hibberd, Mrs Burgess, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Jackson-Young
