Year Two - Ancient Greek Myths

 English Lessons

In our English lessons this half-term we are looking at some of the ancient Greek myths.

We have met Daedalus and Icarus, Theseus and the Minotaur, and next week, we will be finding out about the tragic story of Orpheus and Euridice.

We are using these exciting stories to provide an interesting context for developing Reading and Writing skills.

Later this half-term, we will be having a go at writing our own stories in the style of a myth!

Art Work

Alongside our work in English, we will be looking at pictures of ancient Greek pottery (decorated with scenes of their stories and their daily lives).

We will be making own "replicas" using plastic bottles covered in "papier mache".

I would be very grateful if you could provide a plastic bottle (or two) so that we can transform them into works of art. (plain, cylindrical 2-litre plastic bottles would best suit our purposes.)
