Reading Week invitation

Last week the children worked hard to complete our extended writing task, producing an information leaflet for the Dorchester Museum all about Mary Anning and the Jurassic Coast. This week we learned all about Pangaea, continental shift leading to how fossils are formed and the relationship of all this to the Jurassic Coast - ask the children to explain to you about the earth and it's plates using a hard boiled egg!!!!! Ofcourse our trip to the Museum reinforced our learning and the children impressed Pippa, the Museum Tutor, with all their knowledge! Well done everyone - you also conducted yourselves superbly!

As I am sure you are aware, this week is Reading Week- the whole school is basing it around the same text "Trubloff" by John Burningham - Mr. Farrington has set a challenge too - can you take a photograph of the strangest place you have been caught reading!

I would like to invite you all in on Wednesday afternoon from 3 o'clock to come and share a book with your child - weather permitting it would be lovely if we can spread outside to stretch out and enjoy! It is entirely up to you if you would like to bring a special book in from home or merely use books in school - feel free to bring in cushions, snuggly blankets, torches (incase you want to make a "reading den") anything you like to make it an enjoyable, fun, memorable experience and quality time together!

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!
