Hi everyone, we hope you have had a great bank holiday weekend!
In Year 2 we have been extremely busy and had lots of fun. In Maths we finished our fractions topic and will now move on to the topic of time. In English we finished our topic surrounding 'The Dragon Machine'. Children planned and wrote their own story all about dragons. We were so impressed with the stories they produced. We will be moving onto a new book next week! In Science we planted sunflowers seeds and will be monitoring their growth. In Art we continued to look at our Artist - Orla Kiely and produced some prints using plasticine and paint.
This week we have another busy week. Tomorrow we will be having a PE lesson taught by Mr Treble. On Wednesday we have a cricket input and on Thursday we have a Wessex music roadshow assembly. Friday is our class assembly. We hope to see you there! Children do not need any special outfits for this assembly, they will be wearing their school uniforms.
We had another amazing swimming lesson this week!!
See you in the morning!

In Computing today, we continued our 'Creating Pictures' unit of work by recreating pointillist art using Purple Mash -
We learnt that pointillism was a development of impressionism. It was invented mainly by George Seurat and Paul Signac. Pointillist paintings are created by using small dots in different colours to build up the whole picture. Colours are placed near each other rather than mixed.
Happy Sunday! We hope you have had a super weekend and are feeling ready for another week in Year 2.
The children have settled back into the Summer term amazingly! It was great to hear about all the things the children got up to during the Easter holidays.
This week we started a new unit in Maths all about fractions. We explored equal and unequal parts and looked at halves. In English we started a new book called 'The Dragon Machine'. Children are very engaged with this book and have written for a range of purposes already. In Science we took part in a whole school investigation which involved using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. Our focus was to record on a chart the height of the reaction.
The children also had their first swimming lesson this week and they were AMAZING. We were all so proud of how well the children did and they represented the school very well. We are looking forward to our lesson next week!
Just a reminder it is the Year 2 parent information session tomorrow at 9am in the staff room. We look forward to seeing you there.
See you in the morning!

Hi everyone, we hope you've had a good weekend and enjoyed the sun today!
We can't believe we are about to start our final week of the Spring Term. One term left until the end of Year 2!!
In Maths we completed our mass, capacity and temperature unit. Next week we will be doing Maths assessments and consolidating our learning. In English we continued with our text 'Grandad's Camper'. Children planned the next adventure after the story and will be writing these stories next week.
Our farm trip has been rescheduled for Tuesday! Please ensure children come in with wellies and a waterproof coat. Children can choose to wear their own trousers, but we do ask that they wear school tops. Please can you pass this on to families who you may not regularly read the blogs. Thank you!
