Computing with Mr Spracklen (Week 2)

Today in Computing with Mr Spracklen our aim was to use the 'collision detection event' in 2Code to program the computer to detect a collision.

During the lesson we talked a little about driverless cars (or 'robot cars' as Year 2 liked to call them).

Want to find out more about 'robot cars' check out this great article from CBBC Newsround -

Home Learning - Year Two

Leaves

For ‘home learning’ this week, I would like the children to find leaves from different species of trees.      (How about 6 different trees?)

Can they pick one leaf  from each and draw a careful outline of its shape?

Can they perhaps find the name of the species of tree that it came from?

What do the different leaves you have found have in common?

In what ways are they different?

Are all the leaves on the same tree the same colour?

Are the leaves the same colour on each side?

Did you notice any flowers, fruit, berries or nuts on the trees that you looked at?

Perhaps you could create some artwork with some leaves.

Happy Leafing,

Mr. M.

Year Two - Learning about Victorian Childhood

The children in Year Two have been learning about what life was like in Victorian Times.

We all agreed that it was rather unpleasant compared to today. Can your children tell you about any of the jobs children  sometimes had to do in Victorian Times?

Computing with Mr Spracklen (Week 1)

Today in Computing with Mr Spracklen our aim was to understand what an 'algorithm' is.

Can any of the Y2 children remember?

If not, the below video might be worth exploring together -
