Year 2: Computing, butterfly release and music!

I just wanted to share some pictures with you from our recent music lessons where the children used glockenspiels to make their own tunes using the syllables in their names!

In computing today the children learnt about surrealism art and made their own pictures on 2Paint, these can be accessed from home but here are a few.

This morning we joined Reception as they let their butterflies go. This was great for year 2 to see as they missed their butterflies being released as it was in the holidays.

Thank you Miss Godden and Reception for letting us join you 💚

Year 2: Week 5 and home learning suggestion

Thank you so much for the pictures of the children measuring and baking delicious goodies. I have shared most of the pictures now in our Maths lessons but will carry this on next week for anyone that might bake over the weekend!

This week the children have been writing about our new book: Ocean meets the sky. They had to write instructions on how to make their own boats.

In Maths we have been reading temperatures and now have moved onto learning about fractions.

In Science the children have been observing their seeds and beans growing and recording their findings. We've spoken a lot about germination and the meaning of this. This week for home learning we would like your child to access Purplemash. Below shows the links that they should follow. There isn't anything to hand in, it's just activities and quizzes linked to plants. However, if your child sees an activity they would like to do on the page then they are more than welcome to give it a go.

Apologies about the miscommunication about the upcoming trip. Just to confirm that it is Tuesday 3rd June. We will be getting a bus so if you know your child suffers from travel sickness please could you let us know. Thank you for all the offers of parent helpers, we have enough now. All children to have a backpack with their lunch, snacks and drink. Hopefully it will be nice weather so sun hats and suncream and it's really important that they have their wellies on but also have a spare set of clothes as they might get a little wet. School tops is best but home trousers/shorts is absolutely fine. If you have any more questions about the trip please just come and see me at the door or email me.

Have a lovely weekend... only 1 more week of Summer 1 to go! Where is the time going?!!

Year 2: Home learning this week

As part of our Maths learning this week we have been focussing on mass and capacity.

The children have learnt about:

With this in mind the home learning for this week is a task. We'd like you to spend some time baking or making with your children. The idea is that they get to weigh and measure ingredients. Maybe you could follow a recipe for something delicious you could share with the family?

We would encourage you to send the picture of your children doing this. We will share the pictures in our Maths lessons so no need to send anything else in.

There should be a letter coming home very soon about the details about the trip as there has been some miscommunication in Mr Spracklen's newsletter.

Have a lovely weekend

Mrs Thorpe

Year 2 Superstars!

A huge well done to all of the Year 2's today who sang and signed amazingly!

Today we have enjoyed making paper chains, colouring, purplemash, being outside and the children got to use the microscopes that we have on loan at the moment. We have also had the chance to work with Gardener Jim in the WWII garden and met and spoke with two soldiers and saw their jeep.
