Year 2 - Week 3

 Hi everyone, we hope you have had a great weekend in the sun!

This week we finished most of the Secret Agent Training. We still have some to complete for children who have been off or on holiday. We will be completing them next week. As the children have worked so hard we will be having a celebration on Wednesday afternoon which will involve some final challenges and adventure time. We are so incredibly proud of every single child!

Next week we will be starting a new topic in Maths which is looking at direction. In English we will be starting a new book called Lizzy and the Cloud. In Science we are continuing to look at living things and their habitats.

For home learning this week we would like children to spend time on their projects for the Science Fair on Wednesday. If you want any more information on this, please email.

Tomorrow we are lucky enough to have a virtual author visit from Vanessa Taylor who wrote Baller Boys. We are sure children will love this.

Year 2 - Week 2

Hi everyone! We hope you have had a super weekend!

This week we started our Secret Agent Training AKA SATS and all children have been absolutely amazing!! We have been so incredibly proud of how they have approached this. We will be continuing with this next week. 

This week we were lucky enough to help again with the building of the roundhouse. Children absolutely loved getting dirty and helping with this! We also had a Dogs Trust workshop and assembly which children enjoyed.

As SATS have taken up a chunk of our week, here are some pictures below of the other things children have taken part in. Including Science, gardening and DT. 

We have been continuing with our book in English - Last stop on Market Street. This week we have looked at the themes of the story such as charity, gratitude and love. We will be continuing with this book next week.

Again children were super at swimming and show so much enjoyment in going each week.

Year 2 - Roundhouse building

 Roundhouse building!

Tomorrow, please could children come to school in outdoor clothing (suitable for the weather). Clothes usually worn for Forest School activities (clothes you don't mind getting dirty) would be best. Children should also have wellies or sturdy shoes to ensure safety during the workshops. Children should also bring school clothes and shoes to get changed into after the workshop.

Year 2 - Week 1 and Secret Agent training AKA SATS

Welcome back to the final term in Year 2! We can't believe we only have 6 weeks left! All children have settled back in really well.

In English we have started a new book called 'Last stop on Market Street'. Children are enjoying this book and we have already written for a range of purposes, such as predicting, question writing and exploring expanded noun phrases. We will be continuing with this book next week. 

In Maths we looked at efficient methods, such as mental maths and using different calculations to work out worded questions.

In Science we have started our unit of living things and their habitats. This week we explored our local habitats and what we could find in these.

Tomorrow we are starting our optional SATS. Children received a letter from an 'Inspector Taylor' asking them to complete missions to become secret agents. We have decided to rebrand SATS as Secret Agent Training to ensure these next 2 weeks are seen as fun, rather than putting any pressure on children. They may have already told you about this secret agent training. Any questions about this please let us know!
