Year Two Home Learning - Friday 30th April

Homophones

1. Homophones - words that sound the same but have a different spelling and meaning.

Can you find some pairs (or groups) of homophones?

Bear Bare

Eye   I

You    Ewe    Yew

  2.  Mathematical Problems to Solve. (Have a go. Some are quite tricky.)

There are 80 sweets in the jar. Mr. MacBean eats 30 of them. Mrs Howell and Mrs Bishop share the rest equally between them. So how many do Mrs Howell and Mrs Bishop get each?

Mrs. Barrow and Mrs. Bernard both give £15 towards buying “Snappy” the new classroom pet crocodile.

He costs £50, so how much more money do they need to save up?

Mrs. Bishop wants a new trombone which costs £100. She has saved £20 and her husband has given her an extra £25 for her birthday present towards it. How much more does she need to save up?

Mrs Barrow has £10, Mrs Bernard has £8.50. They want to put their cash together to buy Mr. MacBean a new hat for £30. How much more money do they need?
