This week in Maths we have been looking at measures. The children have been focusing on measuring length, weight and capacity using standard units - mm, cm and m; g and kg and ml and l. They have had lots of practical experience of using rulers, tape measures, scales, balances and measuring jugs and cylinders to measure things around the classroom. I have been tickled pink with how well they remember these units and how accurate they are beginning to be with their measuring. One area of green for growth for many of the children would have to be finding the difference between two measures. At home you could try asking children how much bigger one thing is than another, can they use a ruler to find out the difference? Later in the week the children will be using time as a measure and recapping on telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes or minute.
