There will be no spellings this week due to our trip to Lyme Regis Fossil Festival on Friday (which we still need parent helpers for). We say a big sorry now for the disappointment this will cause you and your children. Year 2 Team

Questions from your children...

During our RE lesson on Friday year 2 were discussing reasons why some people choose to attend Church. They decided that the best way to find out is to ask those people who attend and that they wanted to do this through the blog. So here are the questions and the children would love to hear your answers. If you do not attend Church yourself - then maybe you could direct the following questions to a family member or friend who does:

1. Why do you go to church?

2. Have you ever attended a Christening and if so what happened?

3. Why did you decide to become a Christian?

4. Do you read the bible at home? If so, how often do you read it?

5. What do you do in church?

6. What kind of wine do you drink in church?

7. Are the stories in the Bible true?

Thank you for your time in answering these questions that were created by your child and his/her class.

POWSA FAIR DATE

A NOTE FROM THE POWSA BLOG - This years Summer Fair will be on the 26th May between 11am and 2pm.  Please come and join in!  If you would like to help, there is a form on the POWSA noticeboard (opposite the Office).

Fossil Festival Trip - HELP NEEDED

On Friday 4th May we hope to take the children to the Lyme Regis Fossil Festival. This promises to be a fascinating day when we join with 20 other local schools to explore an array of fossil exhibitions and activities in the Grand Marquee on the seafront. To ensure that this trip can go ahead though, we need your help. Due to the nature of the trip and the number of other schools involved I am very keen that we take some parents along with us to support our visit. Therefore, if you are free next Friday and are willing to support us on our trip, please speak with myself or Mrs. Webb a.s.a.p. We look forward to an exciting trip and thank you again for your continued support. Mr. Spracklen

Settings Change

Our blog settings have been changed to improve the use of blogs throughout the school. You can now add a comment to a blog post without being required to sign in. Why not have a go at this now by clicking this blog title and navigating and clicking on the text which says, 'comments'. Comments are an excellent way we can have positive feedback on the work we are all doing in school and you are all doing through home learning. Mr. Spracklen

Harry H Hopkins

As part of our Literacy work this week we have been taking video calls from a very important film producer called Harry H Hopkins. He has encouraged us to predict what might happen next in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and help him with his next big blockbuster! An example video from our plenary is included below for your viewing pleasure.

MadPad- Wilson Group 'Picky Prince Rap'

Wilson Group have been reading the book 'Picky Prince' in Group Reading. This book has encouraged them to consider alliteration. As a finale to this work Wilson Group have made their own 'music video', I have embedded this below for you all to see. If you want to make your own video in this style you may be interested to know that this video was made using the 'MadPad' app available on the App Store (£1.99 for iPad and 69p for iPhone/iPod Touch).

Mr. Spracklen’s Digital Leaders

A big THANK YOU to all pupils who applied to become one of Mr. Spracklen’s Digital Leaders! There was a huge response and it was very difficult to pick just one child from each class. I have have now decided who will represent each class and have written to each pupil offering them positions as Digital Leaders and inviting them to our first meeting. May I thank everyone again who applied and encourage those pupils that were not successful this time to apply again in the future and attend one of our I.C.T lunchtime clubs which currently include Augmented Reality Club on a Monday lunchtime with me, Mr. Spracklen and Maths I.C.T Club on a Friday lunchtime with Miss. Johnson.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

Over the next few weeks, we're going to be reading Charlie and The Chocolate Factory as a class and I'm sure it's a book that we'll all enjoy. We've already made a good start this morning, making predictions about the book: what might happen, what kind of the characters we might meet and so on. If anybody has an interesting fact about the book or about Roald Dahl, I'm sure we'd love to hear it! Mr. Hopkins

Tarpaulins Needed

Do you have a spare tarpaulin that you could let Year 2 borrow? We will be using them for a large art based project we have planned in the coming weeks. Any large tarpaulin in any colour would be very gratefully received. We promise to look after your tarpaulin and return it to you when we have finished our project. Please pass your named tarpaulin to Mr. Spracklen or Mrs. Webb in Year. 2 if you have one who will take good care of it. Many thanks in advance.

Welcome back Mr. Hopkins!

I am pleased to say that we welcome back Mr. Hopkins for his final term following the GTP (Graduate Teacher Programme). Mr. Hopkins will be working with us until the end of term and working alongside me in my role as class teacher. I am sure you will join me in welcoming back Mr. Hopkins  in the classroom as he supports the children in their learning.
