Trip to Shire Hall on Thursday morning

 Hello Year Two Families

This is just a reminder to say that we are visiting the Shire Hall on Thursday to learn about the Great Fire of Dorchester. We will be eating our lunch at the Shire Hall before we return to school so please pack accordingly.

On this day the children are also invited to wear blue. We will be wearing the school's high viz jackets as we walk to and from the Shire Hall so please do continue to wear blue on Thursday.

If anyone would like to join us on our school trip then please do get back to Mrs March - c.march@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

The fabulous Year 2

We have had a lovely first week back. The children have been working so hard being creative and sharing their ideas. It really is wonderful to see. We have started our new topic on the story 'Wolves' by Emily Garrett. We have started to think about what is a fact and what is fiction.

Today the children had a visitor from the fire service. They explained about what to do in a fire and how to stay safe. The children remembered so many facts about this talk, please do talk through it with them.

Well done to the children who were praised today 💙

This week in Science we have been searching for habitats in our school grounds.

Here are some pictures from last term where we looked at maps in Geography and held the leaf insects.

We set a two week home learning this week. We would like you to research an animal that hibernates and write three facts about it.

Have a great weekend

Save the date and save some boxes!

Hello Families

Year Two are excited to invite you to come to a parent event where we recreate the Great Fire of London on Thursday 5th December at 1.45pm.

During the session you will be working alongside your child to create a building from the time of the fire. We will then put them all together to create the 1666 scene. By this time the children will have also learnt many facts about the event itself and will be able to WOW! you with their knowledge too!

With this in mind, we ask that you start saving and sending in a range of cardboard boxes for us to put to good use.

We look forward to welcoming you along to this event.

Year 2: Printing, Christian input and Forest School

Today the children got the chance to print their pumpkin that they made on the Harvest banner.

Jack Curtis came in today from Dorchester Community Church to talk about kindness and how he uses his religion to express his feelings through art and music. Thank you Jack for your visit.

This afternoon the children were so excited to use the conkers that had to make a necklace (we have them at school). Thank you to everyone that donated conkers for this. I am sure the children will be bringing some home!

Year 2: Information about our Harvest celebration on Friday

We can't wait to welcome lots of you to our Harvest celebration on Friday. After the assembly we welcome you to our classroom to try the wraps that the children have made. This will only be for 10/15 minutes as we will need to get ready for lunch, but it will be lovely for you all to see the classroom.

If you or a family member are unable to make it then please do not worry. There will be enough parents (hopefully) in the room and staff members to make sure your child has someone to taste their wraps.

If you have a child in both assemblies then please do not worry. There should be enough time for you to attend both and taste their foods.

If you have any questions please email me or see me at the door in the morning.

Year 2: Lovely calves and a fantastic muddy farm

We had a fantastic trip to the farm today! Thank you to all the parent helpers. After walking up the very muddy path we learnt about the foraged Maize and then went and saw the tractors unloading it. We then looked at the harvester in the field and went to see the new piglets. A lovely trip, thank you farmer Hazel.

Staying on the farm theme, here are some pictures from when the calves visited 🤎
