Week 1 - Spring term 2

Happy Sunday everyone! We hope you have had a lovely weekend and are ready for another great week in Year 2.

This week we have been so busy but the children have been amazing! In Maths we finished our first multiplication and division topic. Tomorrow we will be starting the second unit of multiplication and division. In Literacy we have been looking at the fundamental devices we need to use in sentences. The children wrote some amazing sentences. Children are also challenging themselves to join their handwriting up and we have seen such a great improvement. In Science we have started our topic of animals including human. We started to look at offspring and simple life cycles.

This week we have a few things happening that I wanted to remind you about;

- On Tuesday we are opening up the library at 3:10 to hold a storytime that all families are welcome to join.  After this story time we are encouraging all children to choose a library book with your help.

- Thursday is World Book Day and we are encouraging children to dress up as their favourite author or book character. There will also be some activities happening throughout the week, including a book review that will be sent home for children to complete.

- Friday is our class assembly. All families will be welcomed to join and watch. The assembly will start at 9:20. We hope to see a lot of you there.

Tomorrow we also welcome Mrs Thomas and Mrs Jackson-Young to the Year 2 team!

Any questions, please email me.

Welcome back to Spring Term 2

Hello everyone, we hope you have had the most amazing half term! We look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow.

Just a few things ahead of the start of Spring Term 2. Our PE lessons are the same as last half term - Monday and Wednesday. Please can you send your child in with their PE kit tomorrow. We will be starting our new topic tomorrow which is all about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We can't wait for the children to learn all about these amazing women. I made an error in the knowledge organiser. We will be focussing on keeping safe. Sorry for my mistake!

See you all in the morning!

Reminder about tomorrow - 9th Feb 2023

 Hi everyone, just wanted to send a message to remind you about a few things happening tomorrow.

We are off on a trip to Waterstones and Dorchester Library. We are asking for children to be dropped off at Waterstones at 9. Mrs Rogers and Mrs Burgess will be there to greet your children. If you child attends breakfast club they will be walking with the other adults in Year 1 and Year 2 at 8:30. We will be back in school for lunch time.

It is also duvet day tomorrow (a reminder email has been sent out about this). A lot of children have already brought in their pyjamas, thank you for this. If you haven't already, please put pyjamas in your child's bag and they will have to carry them from the library back to school.

I previously mentioned about families being welcome to come into school to watch our United Kingdom presentations. As we have a really busy day tomorrow, I have decided that the presentations the children do are only going to be shown to their classmates. Sorry for this.

Any questions, please let me know!
