Dear Year Two,
Home Learning – Year Two Half-term Holiday Activities
1. Write down as many different totals as possible that you can get from ...
two different coins:
(There are a lot of answers!)
Show your answers like this:
1p+ 2p= 3p
1p+ 5p= 6p
2. I have sent you home with your Handwriting Books so that you can have a bit of time practising.
3. Accelerated Reader -
Can you read the books that you have taken home and complete some "Accelerated Reader Quizzes"?
4. Make a simple plan of part of a building, such as your home.
Can you label some of the different rooms and show where the doors are?
#InspiredToLearn Half Term Holiday Design Challenge
“Lest We Forget”
This half term holiday we would like you to have a go at making your own single poppy, we will attach these to a wreath that we will be making in school. The wreath will be placed at the town war memorial by some of our older children after half term as an act of remembrance for all those that gave their lives in conflict.
Design Specification:
- Your Poppy can be made of any material, clay, cardboard, felt, polymer clay, paper, recycled materials, etc.
- Your Poppy should be 3D, rather than flat.
- Your Poppy must be bigger than 5cm but smaller than 12cm in width.
- Your Poppy does not have to be red, in recent years we have used other colours to represent other groups of people who have given their lives in service of our country. You could research these groups and decide what colour you would like to make.
- Your Poppy could have a loop or hook which will enable it to be attached easily to our wreath.
- Please write your name and year group neatly somewhere on your Poppy.
Please hand your Poppy in to your class teacher by Wednesday 4th November for its inclusion on our collaborative act of remembrance.
The children in Year Two have been given a map of the World. For a “home learning” activity, I would like them to find where each of the continents and the oceans are located - and label these on the Map.
Continents | Oceans |
Europe Africa Asia North America South America Oceania (Australasia) Antarctica | Atlantic Ocean Pacific Ocean |
Many thanks, Duncan MacBean
Dear Year Two - We would be very grateful if you could bring in a vegetable to contribute to our Vegetable Soup. Our soup will be our starter for our Friday Harvest Meal. Many thanks.
The children in Year Two worked in groups to label the different parts of a bicycle. We had to make sure we cooperated effectively within our group. We had to listen to each other and take turns.
On Monday, I am hoping to bring some bicycles into the classroom so that we can have a good look at the different parts of a bicycle. I would be very grateful to any children who are able to cycle into school on Monday so we can look at their bikes. Yes, the forecast is not good, but it would be great if you could, please!
Talk about a Photo
Home Learning Year 2 Friday 2nd October
For your home learning this week, we would like you to find a photograph that is of interest to you and prepare a little “talk” about the photo that you can present to a group of friends (or the whole class).
The photo could be of you with your family at an exciting place, or a photo that you have found in a magazine or on the internet that interests you for another reason (historical, geographical, scientific etc).
The important thing is that you should prepare to talk about the photograph for a couple of minutes in an interesting way that engages the listeners in your audience.
You are allowed to have some notes to help you if you like, but we are hoping that you are able to present a little “talk” without having to read too much.
