Mr. Clever says " You are all as clever as me Year 2!"
If the children have been tired this week, it's because they have been working INCREDIBLY hard!!!! I renamed this week "clever clogs" week - showing off how amazingly brilliant and clever we are - and we are!!!!! The children have definitely all been shining with brilliance!!!!!!
We broke up our brain work by continuing with our science topic, geography and developing power point skills in ICT. Ofcourse the highlight of the week has to be the dips and dippers the children designed and made in DT - yummy, scrumdiddlyumptious (as the BFG would say!) and so healthy too! Definitely looking after our bodies as we have been discussing in science! Well done and a huge well done to Mrs. Webb for organising such a successful afternoon. Thank you for supporting the children and coming along for the tasting!

Another thank you, this time to Mrs. Cockerill, for reading Green Eggs and Ham to the class. They loved it!!!!! Joining with all the rhyming heartily!!!!!

More clever clogs work next week so keep those brains polished - you'll be able to rest them over the half term!!!!!

Well done again, one and all!

Our brains keep growing until we are 18!

Well, yet another busy week. Of course last week we had the fantastic opportunity of going swimming - all the children were superb and were very keen to go again!!!! Especially well done to those children who were a little nervous about water - you overcame your fears, be very proud!!!!!

We completed lots over guided writing work focusing on using connectives, paragraphs, speech marks and complex sentences/sentence structure to improve our writing! Tricky, technical stuff!!!!!

This week we had the excitement of being emailed by Willy Wonka himself, allowing us to try to make one of his special sweet recipes........on one condition!!!!!! We all have to design a new sweet for his factory, he will select the best idea and the winner will be rewarded!!!!!!! Our imaginations have been running wild!!!!!!! (Dragons Den here we come!!!)

During numeracy this week we have been running lots of "workshops" revisiting sequences and patterns, reflective symmetry, pictograms and reading scales. Well done Year 2 you have challenged yourself and shown great resilience when some things have seemed difficult.

We also had the great excitement and privilege to have been asked to write letters to a school in Uganda - the children have all been busily writing letters after having seen some of the photos of the children and their school - we hope to hear from our pen pals in a few weeks!!!

Well, what can I say about the tremendous home learning projects - I have never seen such fantastic work, effort and learning!!!!! Well done!

Thank you to Mr. Cockerill who read to us last Thursday, we also had Mrs. Creed visit us and read to us today!!!!! We really are thoroughly enjoying it, it is such a wonderful end to our day - a quiet end to a busy day enjoying a good book, having reading modelled to us by everyone, demonstrating the importance of learning to read and the love of reading by all! Thank you once again - I know a couple of other parents have kindly offered and we can't wait to see you!!

Lastly there will be no spellings over the next 2 weeks as we are embarking on a very busy fortnight - pop in if you want to know further information!!!! I will send new ones for the half term.

Thank you and well done everyone!!!!!

School Music Soiree

On Friday 10th May a letter will be sent out to all children who learn instruments or who partake in music sessions within The Prince of Wales School to come and perform at the Summer Soiree 2013! We endeavour to involve all children whether beginner or an advanced player. The choir will also perform as well as recorder groups. Please fill out the slip accordingly and return to the school office asap.
If your child has music lessons outside of school but would also like to perform then please drop by and speak to me, we'll endeavour to involve all who wish to perform!
Orchestra  - the children are doing really well with rehearsing the two songs. With six sessions left before the school concert it is important that all children make rehearsals as the premise is to get all playing well with each other!
Choir - again, six sessions to go before our big performance! The sunny lunchtimes are tempting children not to attend. Please talk to your child about 'sticking to attending'. We are trying to give the children some time after choir to go outside too. We do keep a register, so please see me if any queries?
Finally the summer term is the culmination of music practice. So if your child is showing an interest in beginning an instrument then please inform either the school office or myself and we'll place their names on lists for September. We are going to have some spaces when Yr 4 leave in brass, violin, piano and singing.
